"My life is so much easier because of your service."

Are you prepared for winter weather?

Last winter caught many of us off guard. The snow began in early December and kept on coming.  It was the snowiest winter in years!  The weather’s effect was felt at Meals on Wheels with meal delivery shut down on three different days- historical in our books.  Although we do our best to get everyone a meal when they request it, the safety of our volunteers and staff is paramount.
We remind all clients to have some food on hand in case of an emergency.

Stocking non-perishable, ready-to-eat canned foods and a manual can opener is essential. Simple items such as soup, tuna, peanut butter and crackers are ideal. The Public Health Unit suggests keeping canned puddings, instant cocoa, canned meats and fish, pork and beans, canned fruits and vegetables, juices, instant potatoes, cereal, rice and powdered milk on hand. Remember Meals on Wheels can deliver a package of seven entrees or seven soups to keep handy in your freezer. Call if you would like more information.
